Canadian small businesses to benefit from lower credit card rates

March 5th, 2018  |  Canadian Business

The partnership between Chase and The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) will see CFIB members benefit from exclusive rates on American Express transactions, as well as improved cash flow and reduced administration time.

CFIB, which is made up of 110,000 members from small and medium-sized businesses across the country, works to build partnerships that benefit small business growth.

By working with Chase, CFIB members could save up to 50% on credit card rates.

“This new deal is a big step forward for small business and recognizes their importance to the Canadian economy," saidDan Kelly, President and CEO of CFIB.

Already CFIB members collectively process over $12 billion annually in electronic payments through Chase, and this figure is only set to rise following the new deal.

Kerri-Ann Santaguida, Vice-President & General Manager of Merchant Services at American Express Canada, said: “This is part of our ongoing commitment to the small business community, designed to make it easier for them to do business with us by enabling acquirers like Chase to provide payment processing, servicing and pricing to small merchants."

The new CFIB special rate with Chase is available to businesses with less than $500,000 in Amex transactions.
