March sees return of annual Auto Dealers Against Distracted Driving Campaign

Spring is a great time to buy a new car in Canada. The snow melts away, the temperature shoots up, and the roads are no longer littered with patches of ice and snow. It also marks the return of the annual Auto Dealers Against Distracted Driving Campaign (ADADDC), an initiative that encourages car buyers to take a pledge against driving distracted.

It accomplishes this by educating and reminding drivers on simple solutions that can mitigate the massive safety threat that is distracted driving. Examples of this include pairing Bluetooth to your vehicle in order to engage in hands-free communication, or to identify anything beforehand that could distract you on the road and come up with a plan to avoid it.

The 2017 campaign will be ADADDC's third overall. This year's benchmark target for garnering formal pledges is 20,000. Pledges can be made either at http://distractionfree.ca/ or by posting a statement on Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #TakeTheWheel.

One day in, ADADDC has already spurred over 1,000 pledges, with the largest number coming from British Columbia (440). Individual dealerships have their results tracked and the top 10 are displayed on the campaign website. The current leader is Haley Dodge White Rock Chrysler Ltd. in Surrey, B.C.

For dealers who are looking to get involved, there are a number of resources available on the ADADDC website. These range from posters and press releases to little giveaways to informational multimedia resources.
