RBC to Roll Out Voiceprint Security Technology

Passwords and secret questions may soon become a thing of the past as voice biometric technology sets the new standard for bank security.

After a successful pilot project run, RBC is set to roll out their voiceprint security measures for customers who are contacting their call centres.

Customers will have to opt-in to the service but once they are enrolled, they will be able to be verified in seconds using over 100 unique voice characteristics like tone, pitch and accent.

Agents will be able to start serving customers immediately, as their identity will be confirmed through the course of regular conversation. In addition, voiceprint technology will boost security.

The service will be phased into use over three months and once fully implemented; will be available to customers Canada-wide.
