New Discount Airline Promises $149 Flights to Europe

October 1st, 2015  |  Canadian Business

Wow Air, the Iceland-based discount airline, has announced their plans to start flying from Montreal or Toronto to Iceland for $99 and Europe for $149 starting in 2016.

The carrier is set to start flying out of Montreal’s Pierre Elliot Trudeau on May 12, 2016 and out of Toronto’s Lester B Pearson Airport on May 20, 2016.

These rock bottom prices represent only the base price for a one-way flight to these destinations and flyers can expect to pay for the usual taxes and levies that accompany airfare.

As with other discount air carriers, people will also pay extra for optional services like exchanging a ticket for up to $106 or getting a seat with extra leg room for $82.

Both flights will operate year round and offer departures on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. These flights will fill up fast so the best time to book tickets is as early as possible.

Wow Air was founded in 2011 and grew quickly, offering bargain basement prices for no frills flights to European travellers.

Their recent expansion into the United States and now Canada is designed to capture the North American market and lure flyers eastbound.
